We should talk about Five of Pentacles of Tarot
Tarot is amazing and it is always such an entertaining and exciting feeling to wait for the next cart that will pop up in the reading! Unless the card is five of pentacles!!
As tarot readers, some cards are always scaring us even though we know very well that there is no ‘bad’ card… Death card, three of swords, the tower, and some more that I don’t even want to pronounce their name like they are cursed…
The funny part is even though we are able to give them nice and soothing meanings it is still annoying to see them in the middle of the reading. Because there is always a thought behind the scenes that keeps whispering ‘what if you are sugar coating??’
But all in all, this is tarot and each card is very special in terms of the meaning and message that it’s bringing us. And I have a couple of pf words to say about the five of pentacles and their meanings so that you can a little bit widen your understanding of the five of pentacles…
It’s almost new moon and the ones who know me know very well that I stay away from divination during the new moon period. The reason is a whole other story but this doesn’t mean I stay away from my lovely cards… During my witchcraft journey, I have created many activities and rituals to do with the tarot decks. So while I was doing one of my rituals to explore my true self the ‘you-know-which-one’ popped out! The image of the poor person who is trying to survive horrible life and health conditions with his/her child passing by the rich church… I started to examine the card to see if there was a deeper meaning and I’ve just realized that this card is simply the representation of Karl Marx and his ideology…
We, tarot readers and witches, mostly tend to read this card personally but it actually has a very deep sociological background. It seems like a middle age country but still today there are many countries where this image goes alive… The government shows itself as the ultimate helper and support for people in need but the fact is just the opposite… there are many people on the streets who are struggling to survive and the only fault is the government… so this card I believe also represents the unfair conditions of the country and being a victim of the imperialist system…
And this, of course, reminded me, Karl Marx, because he was expecting England for the first and leading revolution movement of the world but the first revolution was in Russia with Lenin and its party Bolsheviks… So this five of pentacles is also representing that the revolution of the proloteria is so close… It may seem like a cold silent sad night but deep inside it carries the seeds of a huge revolution!
And the şast detail in the card is the cat that watches these people. Of course not every dack is the same but in ‘Dark Mansion Tarot’ that I currently work has a cat detail that watches the poor people with a surprised expression. I love this detail because it is an eye that looks from outside of everything, directly seeing the system that we created! Rich people get richer using poor ones and then comes the revolution chaos and a new order and it corrupts again and it changes again and again and again… Going in circles with no meaning at all and this is what a little cat sees and struggles to understand…
In a nutshell, in my next divination, I will also consider its sociological meaning too. I am sure it will bring a brand new perception of my readings… Hope it inspires you too..
